Brother, Veteran, Friend, Peacemaker.
For those of us who knew and grew up with Wilbert, we know that he was and still is unique in his own way. In a large family, it is expected that everyone has his or her own personality, but Wilbert possessed several different versions and no matter how you look at it, he was one of a kind who got along with all of us most of the time, but still would take you to task if he disagreed with you. You could always count on him to voice his opinions when something truly mattered to him. Growing up, I am not sure if I fought more with him or he fought more with me, but no matter where I went or how far I went, Wilbert still remained the same the next time I saw him. He always went out of his way to help, no matter what was asked of him, who asked him or when they asked him—his heart was that big. For me personally, another piece of the family pie is missing now and just like a pie missing a slice, it is no longer whole and there is an empty void there now which may never be filled. I know that Wilbert was on only on “loan” to us for 62 years and though we miss him, we know that he is now back in his rightful place--with God our Father--and though saddened by this sudden unexpected turn of events, I am comforted by the fact that Wilbert is not alone and that he has been reunited with my mother, sisters and nephew who were there to greet him as he crossed over. Wilbert is home now and I pray that he is in perfect peace with God our Father. I will miss you----Beverly
