Obituary of James Montgomery
James “Biscuit” Montgomery was born on July 12, 1944 in Winnsboro, Louisiana, to the union of William Wilson and Hiever Montgomery. He went home to be without Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 13, 2019 at the home of his eldest daughter, Sharon Renee Montgomery in Boyce, Louisiana.
James graduated from Peabody Senior High School in 1962. While at Peabody, James was a member of the Spanish Club and on the basketball team. James worked for the Rapides Parish School Board until his retirement in 2006. James served as a deacon at Oakland Baptist Missionary Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Leonard A. Dorsey, Jr. For many years he was a member of The Gospel Trumpets, a performing gospel group who performed throughout the South.
James was preceded in death by his parents, William Wilson and Hiever Montgomery; his sister, Rose Wilson; other immediate family members: Uncles: Reverend William Montgomery and James Montgomery; first cousin Roger Paul Montgomery.
James is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Fannie Marie (Lloyd) Montgomery; two daughters, Sharon Renee Montgomery (Kerry L. Elie) of Boyce, La and Captain (Retired, US Army Reserve) Tremika Nicole Montgomery of Arlington, TX; special daughter, Jessica Veretta Ann Kirklin of Alexandria, La; two granddaughters, Shaderrion T’Cole-Lloyd Montgomery of Monroe, La. and Ty’Kita Tesia’ Fennix of Pineville, La; a goddaughter, Sheterroca Shanea’ Marbs of Snellville, Ga; one paternal aunt, Julia Montgomery of Pineville, La; a host of other relatives and cousins, among them: Barbara H. Bell, Thelma H. Woody, Pauline Montgomery, Paulette M. King, all of Alexandria, La.; Vera H. Beasley of Pineville, La.; William J. Hammond of Alexandria, La.; Wilbur David Montgomery and Bruce A. Montgomery, both of Pineville, La.; two sisters-in-law, Sarah H. Marbs of Covington, Ga and Lyndel L. Vaughn of Alexandria, La.
