LIFE STORY

 

FOR EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON A TIME TO BE BORN:

James Allen Gross Jr (Da) was born to James Allen and Elvira Taylor Gross Sr on February 25, 1949 in Alexandria, La. He was the third child out of four children.

 

A TIME TO PLANT:

James Allen was baptized at an early age by his uncle Rev. William Gross at Eastern Star Baptist Church. He later joined Starlight Missionary Baptist Church which is now under the leadership of Bishop Gregory C. Mills Sr.

 

A TIME TO LIVE:

James Allen attended Peabody High School throughout his high school years. He graduated from Peabody in 1967. Upon graduation he attended LSUA majoring in Social Work . He was a Counselor for 40+ years until his health began to decline, which led to him ret iring.

 

On September 3, 1993, he married the love of his life, Karen Ryland Raye. They loved each other dearly and enjoyed life together until Karen departed this life.

 

A TIME TO DIE:

James Allen departed this life on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents James Allen and Elvira Taylor Gro ss Sr., his wife Karen Gross, and his Godson Maurice "Moe" Thomas.

 

Left to cherish his memories are four loving and devoted sisters Eloise Floyd (Wilmer) of Inglewood, Ca., Marianne Foster (Reginald), Kathryn Thomas (Vicenta) both of Alexandria La. and Willie Mae Johnson of Arlington, Tx. Two Godchildren Erika Foster Brown of Alexandria, La. and Kaila Gross of Houston, Tx. Two special nephews Kirk Foster of Houston, Tx and Gregory Gross (Charlotte) of Alexandria, La. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Special friends-Jarrell Scott, Jerri Monk, Melody Alexander, and Veronica Baines.
