Obituary of Dayton Ashley
DAYTON ASHLEY was born on February 5, 1953 in Pineville, La. to the union of John Henry Ashley Sr. and Maude Trent-Ashley. He was the
second born of his triplet brothers, Layton and Clayton. Dayton
excepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. G. C. Jacob of Second Union Baptist Church.
DAYTON was raised on Inglewood Plantation where he began to learn work skills. He was a "1972" graduate of Peabody High School.
DAYTON was a man of "service." On January 30, 1975, he enlisted into the United States Air Force. He worked in Health Service Management where he served for 20 yrs. and received numerous rewards and
certificates for his service. He was last stationed at MacDill AFB in
Tampa, Fl and served in support of "Operation Desert Shield/Storm." He retired from active duty in January of 1995. After retiring, Dayton was honored to stay employed with MacDill hospital and retain his
position as a civilian working in health service and medical records.
Again, he worked for another 20 yrs. and retired in January 2015 where he was recognized as a faithful and devoted Federal Civilian Service,
"On the Occasion of Retirement," from employment with the United
States Air Force. Dayton resided in Tampa, Fl. until his health declined and moved back home in September of 2016.
Dayton was preceded in death by his father and mother, John Henry
Ashley, Sr. and Maude Trent-Ashley, his brothers Roosevelt, Louis,
Wendell, Layton, and John Ashley Jr. One sister, Lillian Ashley-Eagles.
He leaves to cherish his memories, five brothers: Leonard Ashley,
Sidney Ashley (Patricia), Airfield Ashley, Clayton Ashley and Johnny
Ashley (Deborah) all of Alexandria. A niece/sister: Lisa Eagles of Stockbridge, GA. and one nephew/brother: Scott Eagles of Waukesha, Wi. A host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
