Obituary of Johnny Daniel

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.

Johnny Daniel was born January 12, 1962 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the union of the late Leroy and Theda Daniel.  Johnny accepted Christ in 1978.  He was baptized at First Mount Calvary Baptist Church by the late Rev. Johnny Blade.  Johnny Daniel attended Warren Eastern High School and Southern University at New Orleans.  Johnny later decided to join the United States Marine Corps.  He served as an Aviation Supply Technician from 1980 until 1984.

Johnny was employed as a Pipe Filter for Northrop Grumman Ship Systems at Avondale Shipyard before being displaced by Hurricane Katrina.  He worked as a welder from 2007 to 2009 while residing in Dallas, Texas after the hurricane.  Johnny then relocated from Dallas, Texas to Alexandria, Louisiana to work at the Alexandria VA Medical Center in the Laundry Department.  Johnny joined Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 2012.  Johnny met Linda Faye Matthews at Zion Hill Church and they later married on April 20, 2013. 

Johnny departed this life on October 17, 2018.  He is preceded in death by his parents Theda and Leroy Daniel.  Grandparents Ruth Daniel and Eula Jackson and a sister Diana Green.

Johnny is survived by his wife Linda Daniel.  (3) Three sons Willie Chaney (Tasha Morris), Derrick Gold, and Donovan Matthews.  (2) Two daughters Keia Groomes and Raven Keys.  (4) Four Godchildren Ronald Burse, A’Keila Slaughter, Kentrell Silas and Keasha Silas.  One sister Joyce Daniel Warren; (4) Four brothers Leroy, Alvin, Tyrone and Michael Daniel.  (3) sisters in law Glenda Silas, Yvette Wingate, and Cynthia Crissette; (2) grandchildren Kailoni Grooms and Tarahi Chaney.

Johnny was loved by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
