Obituary
Brother Oscar Lee Sewell Jr. (Sash) was born on December 7, 1948 in Pineville, LA to the late Oscar Lee Sewell Sr. and the late Earline Ceanna Sewell. Brother Oscar transitioned from earth to his new heavenly home on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Rapides General Hospital. Brother Oscar loved God and accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Greater Magnolia Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend J. Williams. He continued to serve God under the current pastorship, Reverend C. D. Godfrey Sr. until his health failed.
Brother Oscar was educated in the Rapides Parish School System and attended Peabody High School in Alexandria, LA
Brother Oscar began working at an early age and knew the value of hard work. He began a career in 1974 at Pineville Kraft Papermill as a bulldozer operator and then to pulp mill. He held various positions at Kraft, which was later renamed International Papermill, until 1989. He then began working at Pinecrest State Hospital as a custodian. After several years, he made his way to the Rapides Parish School Board where he retired as the head custodian on July 31, 2010.
Brother Oscar loved his family with a passion and touched so many lives around him. He grew up as an only child and always longed for a big family. He was the neighborhood cook and everyone’s friend. Brother Oscar never met a stranger. He welcomed everyone he met and they also became family.
Brother Oscar first married his high school sweetheart, Delores Griffin Sewell on December 22, 1968. To this union three children were born; Tonia Sewell and Vontrecia Prier (Michael) of Pineville, LA. and Christopher Sewell (LaTerrica) of Augusta, GA. He also had another son, Kedrick Winnfield Sewell of Alexandria, LA. whom he loved dearly. Brother Oscar went through many changes and transformations throughout his life time. Brother Oscar married a second time to his current wife, Charlene Aaron Sewell on January 21, 2000 and blended his family of four with her family of four making them his own. Felicia Aaron of Lake Charles, LA., Mitchell Aaron (Tarchelle) of Dallas, TX., Stephanie Aaron (Greg) of San Diego, CA. and Adrianne Aaron (Joey) of Alexandria, LA. Brother Oscar was known for being a loving and caring husband, a loving, caring and giving father and an amazing grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He loved having family time. He finally got his wish for the big family he always wanted.
Brother Oscar leaves to cherish his amazing spirit and carry the best of memories, his wife of twenty years, five daughters, three sons, 20 grandchildren, 1 great-grand and one on the way, one sister, Gale, one aunt, Eunice White, mother of his three children, Delores Griffin Sewell, The Milton family, four brothers in law, seven sisters in law, 5 Godchildren and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
