Mr. Douglas Moore Williams was born September 24, 1940 in Pineville, Louisiana to the union of the late Harold, Sr. and Willie Mae Williams. He departed this earthly life into eternal rest on August 17, 2020. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Early in his childhood, Douglas accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized by the late Rev. P.M. Hall at Good Hope Baptist Church in Pineville, Louisiana. Douglas remained a faithful member until his death where he served under the leadership of Rev. Joseph K. Lewis. As a member, he served in several capacities including, Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Male Chorus. He was always willing to do whatever needed to be done for the church, as he felt that was his Christian duty. Douglas was also a member of the Lake Rest Lodge #202 for over 50 years where last served as the Worshipful Master. As a masonic brother he was also a member of the Jaffa Temple #181 Shriners, C. F. Ladd Consistory #80, Commanders of the Rite 33rd Degree, Order of Eastern Star, and the Lion’s Club. Douglas attended school in Rapides Parish and graduated from Peabody High School in 1959. After high school, he entered the workforce with Clarke Dunbar then entered into the United States Army where he was Honorably Discharged in 1972. He also served during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Douglas went back to Clarke Dunbar for a short time before becoming employed with Proctor & Gamble where he worked until he retired. During his retirement, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, morning coffee drinks at McDonald’s with his buddies and occasional travel. Douglas leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and faithful wife of 54 years, Lena; one daughter Jennifer Lynn of Pineville and a son Marvin Charles (Erika) of Birmingham, Alabama; two favorite grandchildren, Jazmine and Christian; two brothers Harold Jr. of Pineville and Gerald (Carla) of Atlanta, Georgia; three sisters, Gertrude Hawkins of Riverside, California, Velda Jean LaCour of Alexandria and Miranda Markham of Shreveport; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Please keep the Williams Family lifted in prayer. ~Miller & Hill "The Funeral Directors"
