Johnnie Millhouse, 96

Obituary of Johnnie Millhouse, 96

Johnny B. Millhouse was born in Lecompte, Louisiana, on August 2, 1924, to the late Beatrice Jones Millhouse and the late Bertrand Weil Millhouse. He was baptized at an early age in Baton Rouge, Lousiana. He attended the Rosenwald School in Lecompte for a number of years and was drafted in the United States Army during World War II. After his military years abroad, he returned to America and matriculated at Southern University in Baton Rouge to study tailoring under the GI Bill. Johnny also worked on various jobs in Massachusetts and Maryland on the east coast; however, after his father passed away and his mother gradually became somewhat disabled, he decided to return to Lecompte to assist her. He loved his family and he was a caregiver for two uncles and nephews. Seemingly, Johnny’s favorite past-times were sports, photography, reading, going to the movies and traveling. He also loved to play his harmonica. Preceding him in death were his mother, Beatrice Jones Millhouse; his father, Bertrand Weil Millhouse; his sisters, Irene Matthews, Rebecca Baxter, Irma Beecham, and Beatrice Baxter; his brothers, Howard Edward Millhouse, Alfred Millhouse, and Walter Millhouse; and a number of nieces and nephews. Johnny departed this life on August 3, 2020. He leaves to cherish his memories, five sisters, Hattie Compton and Ida Dean Sampson of Lecompte, Louisiana, Dorothy Ann Green of Alexandria, Louisiana, Tilla Mae Martin (Moleas) of Houston, Texas, and Helen Polite of Desoto, Texas; one brother, Bertrand Millhouse of Austin, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews to cherish his memories. ~Miller and Hill The Funeral Directors~
