Darryl Iles, 58

Obituary of Darryl Louis Iles, 58

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:6-8. Darryl Louis “Bo” Iles was born to John Louis Iles and Florine Marie Pierce Iles at Baptist Hospital in Alexandria, LA. Darryl was the youngest of five children born to the union of John and Florine. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sylvester and Ozie Iles; Jake Pierce and Maude Wallace; his father, John Louis Iles and sister, Michelle Annette Iles. Darryl was educated in the Rapides Parish School System where he attended Silver City Elementary, Jones Street Jr. High and Tioga High School. He obtained his GED, and afterwards attended LSU-Alexandria. Darryl was baptized at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Houston Texas, under the pastorate of Rev. Hayward Wiggins. In his later years, became a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church, which has a long legacy of membership by all of his fore parents, under the pastorate of Dr. Joe S. Green. Darryl faithfully served as an usher under the leadership of “Miss Elouise” (Venson), and in the Children’s Church under the leadership of “Miss Nancy” (Williams). Darryl loved his two mentors and he loved the children. He had a unique fondness for the elderly members of the church of whom he had known from his childhood. He and his beloved mother would frequently visit them and take them treats. Darryl’s memory was second to none. He often challenged his siblings and cousins to remember events. They could always count on him for the re-telling of events of the past and to challenge them with the question, “How could you forget that?” He loved his nieces and nephews and would take them to the store and buy them snacks and treats every time he had an opportunity to do so. Many of them got their only experience of riding the Alexandria City Bus with Uncle Darryl. Darryl enjoyed playing baseball and watching all sports events on television, including the Kentucky Derby. He would frequently pick the winning horse. Those left to cherish fond memories of Darryl-Bo include : his faithful, loving and devoted mother, Florine Iles Lovelady, his patient and devoted step-father, Harrison Lovelady; one brother, Michael Iles of Pineville; two sisters, Bobbie “Joanie” Taylor (Terry) of Zachary, and Debra Smith (Leon) of Alexandria; one uncle, Travis “Pete” Sanders (Dedra) of Rusk, TX; Special Cousins, Patricia Iles and Cassandra Elmore, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends. Rest in Peace Darryl-Bo, until we meet again. Please keep the family in prayer. ~Miller & Hill "The Funeral Directors"
