Obituary of Celestine Lawson, 72

"There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in our hearts". Obituary Celestine Van Lawson was born in Pineville, LA on April 9, 1948 to the late Herman Robinson and Elnora Mason Van Robinson. She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at an early age at Mt Herman Baptist Church in Taylor Hill by Reverend H.Y. Piper. She married Freddie D. Lawson, October 1966. Celestine was a proud graduate of Peabody High School, Class of 1966. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church pastored by Reverend Rodney C. Jones. She was an outstanding Sunday School teacher and a member of the Old 8th District Association. She was a strong, loving, God Fearing Woman of God who loved her family unconditionally. She retired from the Rapides Parish School Board after serving 32 years. Celestine was preceded in death by her parents, Grandparents, Tennesse “Elise” Smith and Reverend James Smith, daughter Cheryl Lawson, sister Ophelia White, brothers Billy Clyde Van and Malcolm Mason, Sr. Celestine is also a 13 year Breast Cancer Survivor and a strong advocate for Breast Cancer Awareness. Celestine leaves to cherish her memory, Freddie Lawson of Alexandria, 2 daughters, Melodie L. Piper (Larry) of Alexandria, and Debbie Lawson of Ruston, LA, 1 son, George “Doc” Price, Jr. of Killeen, Tx. 1 brother, Johnny R. Mason, Sr, (Phyllis) of Alexandria and 17 Grandchildren, LaTerica Lawson, Sharonda Adams (Quintin), Robert Henry (Kiara), Leroy Clark (Brianna), Cherelle Garrison (Kevrick), Joseph Henry, La’Kesha Henry, Jasmine Rooks, Troy Peake, Tranisha Peake, Tiara Price, Trinity Price, George “Lil Doc” Price, Elijah Price, Terry Price, Tayonna Cuthrell (Travis) and James Jessie, 17 great-grandchildren, best friend Della A. Fields, a faithful niece Doneisha E. Mason Franklin, mentor and friend Antonia Dugas and a host of other relatives, family members and friends.
