OBITUARY Walter Ray Williams was born on June 5, 1948, the youngest of four sons, to the marriage of John Burle, Sr., and Georgia Mae Fields Williams. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized into the fellowship of Lone Star Missionary Baptist Church. He was educated in the Rapides Parish School System, attending Kelso Elementary School, Jones Street Junior High School and Peabody High School through the 10th Grade. In 1965, his Junior Year, he was one of the first of a group of students to integrate Tioga Senior High School. For his Senior Year of high school, he transferred to and graduated from Valencia High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1968, he was drafted into the U. S. Army. During his military service, he served a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam. He was Honorably Discharged in March of 1970. After being discharged from the Army, he went to work at the V.A. Hospital, Alexandria, Louisiana, as a Nursing Assistant. He eventually applied to and was accepted into the Respiratory Therapy Program. He spent the last thirteen years of his thirty-three-and-a-half-year career as a Respiratory Therapist, retiring in 2003. Before retiring and after retirement, he worked on his favorite hobby, carpentry and woodworking. He remodeled homes and was an all-around "Jack of Home Repair." On December 25, 1971, Walter was united in Holy Matrimony to Blanche Moy of Sterlington, Louisiana, and they shared 48 years of marriage. Although no children were born to the marriage, he was a father-figure to his many nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by his mother and father, paternal and maternal grandparents, three brothers (John Burle, Jr., Charles Richard and Jack); one sister (Janie). He leaves to mourn his wife, Blanche; one brother, Herman Williams (Joan); one sister, Wanda Faye Williams; one sister-in-law, Joyce Ann Jones; two great aunts, Madeline Ward and Cora Lemott; one Godson, Shelton Lamone Pierce (LaKeitcha); an adopted daughter, Angela Lee (Michael); an adopted sister, Bernice Boston (Johnny); Five Sisters-in-law: Diane Moy Dean; Francis Smith; Rose Marie Moy; Brenda Gaines (Israel); Jacqueline Scott; Three Brothers-in-law: Harold Scott (Ida); L.C. Moy (Rose); Tommie Moy (Tina); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. ~Miller & Hill The Funeral Directors~
