Jennie Wilson

Obituary of Jennie Faye Wilson

On April 16, 1955, in Los Angeles, CA, a beautiful baby girl was born to the union of Matthew Raymond Wilson Sr. and Willie Bea Brown Wilson.  Jennie was the baby girl of seven children. After the death of her father in 1960 she, along with five of her siblings migrated to Alexandria, LA where they lived with their grandmother, Easter B. “Mama” Hallback.

Baptized at an early age, she was raised by a God-fearing grandmother who instilled the basic principles of living a Godly life.  She was educated in Rapides Parish where she attended Silver City Elementary School, Jones Street Jr. High, and graduated in 1972 from Peabody Sr. High School.  During her tenure at Peabody she was a member of the Lady Warhorses Basketball Team. Post-graduation, she matriculated from Southern University and met future husband, Oliver Singleton.  From their union they created a talented baby girl. Although their union came to an end, her love for her family continued until the very end.

On August 2, 2018, it was God’s call for his angel to suffer no more, and as a result, she lost her fight with cancer.  She will forever be remembered for her fashion sense, crafty expertise, delectable cooking skills and her spunky witt.

She leaves behind in her memory:1 Daughter – Toni Singleton of Arlington, TX3 Sisters – Ruth Elaine Wilson Joseph of Las Vegas, NV, Martha L.
