Obituary of Johnny Louis Cleveland, 63

Johnny Louis Cleveland, 64, passed away April 27, 2020, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. Mr. Cleveland was born November 16, 1956, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Gardner and Girdie B. Cleveland in Pineville, Louisiana. Mr. Cleveland was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. Smith at Greater St. Lawrence Baptist Church. He completed high school at Peabody Magnet High School in 1974. Mr. Cleveland was an honest, loyal and dedicated husband, father, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, Paw-Paw and, most of all, a man of integrity who worked very diligently to provide for his family and assist others whenever needed. He began his working career with the City of Alexandria utility department, where he worked for over 30 years. He also worked at the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office for 20 years. He retired from the City of Alexandria in August of 2018. He continued working as a Sheriff’s officer until he passed away. Mr. Cleveland is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gardner and Girdie B. Cleveland; three brothers, Charlie Cleveland, Gardner Cleveland and Curtis Cleveland; one sister, Shirley Thomas; and one nephew, Demetrius Cleveland. Those he left to cherish his loving memories include his loving and devoted wife, Donna Conway–Cleveland; one brother, David Cleveland; two sisters, Betty Allen and Erma (Melvin) Peace; two children, Keyla Conway and Regin (Sharicka) Conway; and two godchildren, Keith Metoyer and Lucille Simmon; seven grandchildren, Jerameshia (Adriana) Conway–McIntosh, Darius (Shaterricka) Cleveland, Sir Kualo Conway, Meravia Conway, Jalhmaar Conway, Regin Conway, Jr., Koltyn Conway, Tra’Miya Hall, J’Vonia Stewart, and De’Lveon Williams; six great-grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law, Deannie (Richard) Richard of Phoenix, Arizona, Claudette (Wilson) Coleman, Trudy Conway, Irma King, Rolanda King (Nelson), Starlic (Johnny) Atkins, and Monica Raymond; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Earl (LaTrese) Conway of Houston, Texas, and Minister Karroman (Angela) King; along with a great host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. A Committal Celebration for Johnny Cleveland will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at St. Matthew Baptist Church Cemetery in Boyce, LA. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only ten family members are permitted at the graveside. All other family members and friends may attend curbside, 6 feet apart, or may remain in their vehicles to view the service. Please keep the family lifted in prayer. ~Miller & Hill
