Obituary
Obituary of Wilmer Blue, 68
To everything there is a season, a time to be born, and a time to die.
Ecclesiastes 3:2a
Wilmer Blue was born on January 31, 1952 in Lecompte, Louisiana to Doretha Bowie.
He was baptized at an early age at Edgefield Baptist Church of Cheneyville, Louisiana. After graduating from Carter C. Raymond High School, Wilmer joined the United States Marine Corps. After an honorable discharge from the Marines, Wilmer began a career with the Louisiana Department of Corrections where he faithfully served for over 30 years until he retired. Wilmer's hardworking nature would not allow him to stay in retirement. He then went on to work for the City of Alexandria.
On April 1, 2020, Wilmer was found sleeping in Jesus. He had quietly moved from labor to reward. Wilmer was preceded in death by his mother Doretha Bowie; brothers Jesse Blue, Roosevelt Blue and Donald Blue and a sister Wanda Fisher.
Roosevelt life and legacy will be cherished by those he left behind: three daughters, Cody Blackman, Trevea McKinley and Terraniecya Shepherd; grandchildren Tyair Blackman, Sergio Carr, Andriana Carr, Damarion McKinley, Jarian McKinley and Zechariah McKinley; two sisters Doris Smith and Patricia Griffin; two uncles Archie Blue and Matthew Blue; three aunts Lucille Trowel, Audrey Aaron, and Dorothy Lafleur.
A private service for the immediate family will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Miller & Hill "The Funeral Directors" followed by burial at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
Please keep his daughters and family in prayer.
