Obituary of Ivory Lee Washington, 69
Ivory “Pig” Washington finished his sixty-nine years journey on this earth on February 23, 2020, to accept his place with our heavenly Father.
Ivory was born on March 25, 1950, to the union of the late Dave Washington, Sr. and Helen Hebert Washington in LeCompte, Louisiana.
Ivory, like many of his brothers and sisters matriculated through the halls of Silver City Elementary and Peabody High. In high school, he was quite a sportsman, playing football and baseball. After high school, Ivory attended trade school in New Orleans. Afterward, he returned to Alexandria and married Elizabeth Balthazar, to whom he was married until his death. To this union, six children were born: James Balthazar (Sharon), Tamara Washington, Louis Washington (Starleana), Christina Washington (Darcelle), Lori Washington all of Alexandria, and Regina Washington Bennett (Emerson) of Baton Rouge. Ivory also has a son from a previous relationship, Clarence Spottsville (Lisa) of Colfax.
Ivory was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Helen Washington; two sisters, Rose Hilliard and Monnette Alexander; one brother, George “Jabbo” Washington; his brothers-in-law, Louis Balthazar, Jr., Jimmie Ceasar, Sr., and Fisher Hilliard; his father-in-law, Louis V. Balthazar, and his mother-in-law, Mary Gallien Balthazar.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Elizabeth, his children, twenty-one grandchildren, and twenty-six great-grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn three brothers: Danny (Delores) of Austin, Tx, Dave, Jr. (Sue) of Atlanta, Ga, Ronald, Sr. (Pam) of Alexandria, La, four sisters: Ollie, Betty, Mary, and Jaqueline, all of Alexandria. He also leaves to cherish his memory his uncles, Arthur Washington, Sr., and Layton Hebert, both of Alexandria, brother-in-law George Alexander of New Orleans, La., brothers-in-law Charles and Alfred James, sisters-in-law Marjorie and Louise James, all of Alexandria, La, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.
