Obituary of Ruth Rosa Hardison James, 87

Ruth R. James was born July, 29 1932 to her parents Theo Hardison, Sr. and Mary(Reynolds) Hardison. At the age of eleven, upon her mother's death became foster daughter to Mrs. Alma W. Redwine. Ruth was baptized at an early age at Live Oak Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Roosevelt Shorter. Ruth was an active church worker and member of the Sanctuary Choir until her illness rendered her unable to attend. Upon graduation of Peabody High School in 1952, she began work at a local dry cleaners. 1953 she was united in marriage to Alfonso James, to this union a daughter was born in 1954. Eleven years later a son was born. After various jobs, she became employed by Rapides Parish School Board in 1961 as the secretary of South Alexandria Primary (Alma Redwine Elementary). In 1986 she retired after 25 years of service. She is preceded in death by her Parents Theo and Mary Hardison, Foster Mother Alma W. Redwine, Brother's, Theo(Mary) Hardison, Jr., Samuel Hardison, Andrew(May Olla)Hardison, and Sister Geraldine Hardison. Ruth leaves to cherish her memory, Mrs. Alma Dixon, Daughter, of Alexandria, LA; Bryan James, Son of Alexandria, LA; Mrs. Walterine (Mack)McClain, Sister of Riverside, CA; three grandchildren, Devita Hamilton, Alexandria, LA; Phillip(LaTasha)Dixon, Laurel, MD; Clifton(Lashondra)Dixon, Alexandria, LA, three great-grand children, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and a dear friend in Mrs. Catherine Wooding. ~Miller & Hill "The Funeral Directors"
