Obituary “I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his -appearing.” 2 Timothy: 4:7-8 KJV , Barbara Ann Bowie was born July 28, 1946 to the late Manuel and Inez R. Smith in LeCompte, La. She peacefully entered eternal rest December 29, 2019 at 12:45 p.m. with her loving family at her bedside. She was baptized by the late Rev. J.J. Spane at St. John Baptist Church and remained an active member until her death. Barbara received her education in Rapides Parish, graduating from Carter C. Raymond High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1965. She was employed at LSU-A for 15 years and had plans to retire in January 2020. She was a loving, soft spoken and caring person. She dearly loved her family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. Her greatest love was for her grandchildren and working outside with her many plants. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Inez Smith, siblings, Benjamin, Manuel, Jr. and Cleveland Smith and 1 niece, Denise W. Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Tonya Johnson (Rodney), one sister, Brenda Smith of LeCompte, La., one sister in law Ora Smith, 2 grandchildren, Brandon and Payton Johnson. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and several special people in her life, sister in love Margie Webster and daughters in love, Andrika Johnson and Adrianna Nelson.
