Obituary of Vernon Williams, 68
To everything there is a season…Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Vernon Williams Jr. was born July 25, 1951, to Vernon Williams Sr. and Frances LaCour Williams in Melrose, Louisiana. He received his formal education through the Rapides Parish School System. He was a graduate of Peabody Magnet High School in 1969, and he attended Alexandria Technical Trade School. Thereafter he joined the United States Army. Some of his tours include Thailand and Vietnam, and he served as a military police officer. After receiving an honorable discharge, Vernon returned home and met his wife Patricia Nash and to this Union were seven children. After returning to Alexandria, Vernon also began working at the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Department where he retired after 27 years of service. Vernon departed his earthly walk December 15, 2019.
Vernon is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; father, Vernon Sr.; sister, Ruth; and brother, Andrew.
Vernon leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Frances LaCour Johnson; five daughters, Charisse, Tisha, Adrain, LaTerrica and Kimberly; two sons, Joel and Greggory; fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; six sisters, Bernice Oden, E. Faye Williams of Washington, DC, R. Marie Williams Copeland of Chino, California, Siverene Williams-Jones (Albert) of Houston, Texas, Gussie Williams-Dupar (Jon) of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Mildred Duncan (Claude) of Missouri City, Texas; two brothers, Stevie LaCour (Mary) of Spring, Texas, and Adolph Cohen of Carthage, Texas; brother-in-law, Wilma Nash (Ida); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
