Obituary of Luretha Duncan Johnson, 81
Luretha Duncan Johnson was born on October 2, 1938 on McNutt Hill in Boyce, La to the late John and Ethel Duncan. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2019 @ 2:50pm surrounded by her children.
Luretha was baptized at an early age at 1st Evening Star BC under the leadership of Rev. Luke Williams. She attended several churches throughout her life with her last discipleship being at St. Matthews BC until her health started declining.
Luretha was the epitome of a mother, grandmother, daughter, wife, sister, aunt and friend. She loved children and was a Teachers Aid for CCAC at Little Boy Blue then later at Tom Thumb. Often her children friend would gather at the family home for fun, laughs and food. She was called “Mother” by all who came thur the front door. She never hesitated to help those in need.
Luretha was preceded in death by her parents John & Ethel Duncan, (2) sons Larry “Jody” Duncan and Marshall “Hardy” Harden III, (1) daughter Cynthia D. Harden and (3) grandchildren, Marshall Harden IV, MyKeisha Hardison and Tarvaris Hardison.
Luretha legacy will be cherished through her children, three sons-Michael R. Duncan, Tyrone (Willow) Harden and Donald P. Hardison, six daughters Danizetta(Julius)Farr,
Dietra (Tony) Hardison, Darlene
Hardison, Carolyn Martin, Debora (Robert) Washington, and Samantha Hardison. Her Sister-Dorlean D. Warner, Aunt-Lillie Helaire, Uncle & Aunt-Joe & Ella Mae Duncan, 1st cousin who was more life a sister-Louise Alexander, two daughters in-laws -Beverly Jackson and Debra Duncan, (28) grandchildren, (77) great-grandchildren and (3) great, great-grandchildren. Plus a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
