Obituary of Larry Green
On August 28, 1960, Larry Darnell Green was born to the union of RJ Green Sr. and Ruby
Caffery Green in Alexandria, Louisiana. Early on the morning of November 13, 2019, God came
and stood by his bedside, took his hand and whispered, "you have fought a good fight, and you
have finished your course".
Larry loved God and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at
Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Alexandria, Louisiana under the leadership of Reverend R.R.
Perry.
He was educated in the Rapides Parish School System and attended Pineville High School in
Pineville, LA.
From a child, Larry loved to cook. At just 13 years of age, he began working and making Hot
Tamales from scratch with his great aunt, Georgia Allen. By age 18, he was the Head Cook of
Georgia’s Hot Tamales in Alexandria, LA. Larry later entered the hospitality industry and
worked at several hotels in the Alexandria, LA. area. His love for people also led him to
volunteer his free time at the VFW Post 8852 in Alexandria, LA.
Larry loved his family with a passion, no matter the holiday or the family event, you could
always count on Larry to attend. Although he had a quiet personality, he touched so many lives
around him. He loved to laugh, he loved his good friends, good music and he could tear up any
good dance floor. Larry will be truly missed.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, RJ Green, Sr. & Ruby Caffery Green, brother, Lionell
Green, paternal grandparents, Clinton Green, Sr & Carrie Green McCray, maternal grandparents
Napoleon Johnson Sr. & Pinkie Johnson and great niece, Kelsie Lucas.
