Obituary of Willie Allen

Willie "Rabbit" Allen, the son of the late Laura Nash Allen and Tillman Allen, departed this earthly life on Sunday, October 13, 2019. At an early age he was baptized and confessed his love for Christ. He served as a faithful deacon and choir member at St. Matthew Baptist, until his health declined. 


Willie attended Mary E. Graham High School in Colfax, Louisiana. He left school and began working to help his mother provide for his siblings. He was employed with such jobs as a farmhand, skidder operator, and a crane operator. He was proficient in all areas of each job and displayed strong work ethic in each. He was blessed to retire as a crane operator from Texas Industries in 2002. After his retirement, his love for people and work landed him employment as a Foster Grandparent at the Pinecrest State Residential Training Facility until 2002. 


Willie married his high school sweetheart, Myrtle Ruth Allen and to this union, ten children were born. He later married Alice Faye Givens and to this union one son was born. In 2008, Willie married his wife, whom he loved and cherished dearly, Dorothy Lee Norris Williams Allen. 


Willie was preceded in death by two children, Warren Curtis Allen and Carlos Jerome Allen; one grandson Ronald Dee Allen, Jr.,siblings; Jerry Allen, Joseph Allen,  Nodie Sewell, James Allen, Emma Kimble, Samaster Allen, Bobby W. Allen, Elizabeth Langes, and Rebecca White.

Willie is survived by his loving, caring, and devoted wife, Dorothy Lee Norris Williams Allen, nine children, Willie Allen, Ronald D. Allen, Sr. (Felicia), Bridget Goff (John), Vincent Allen, Keisha Allen, Felicia Allen, Marcus Allen (Michele), Tony Allen, and Demetrius Allen. 53 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 9 step-children. Three siblings, Gladys D. Morris; George Allen, and Fren Allen (Marie); two sisters-in-law, Lucinda Allen and Gwendolyn Allen; 2 godchildren, Samona Allen and Nakisha Boyd. He was loved dearly by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
