OBITUARY

A TIME TO BE BORN: Sis. Alice Sue Bacon-Jacob was born in Evergreen, La., to the late Frank K. and Sufronia Friels- Bacon, Sr. on May 28, 1934.
A TIME TO PLANT: Brought up in a Christian family, Sis. Alice Sue was baptized in 1943 by the late Rev. S. A. McCree at New Light Baptist Church, in Evergreen , La. Planting for God's Kingdom, her faith seeds were faithfully sown in ministry , as a Sunday -School Teacher, Secretary (Recording/ Announcing) Vacation Bible School Teacher, Senior Choir Member , Youth Choir Sponsor , President of the Mission Workers, a member of the Eastern Star Chapter, and a sponsor of the Kingdom Searcher Gospel Singing Group, until her illness retired her service in 2017_.
A TIME TO BUILD: Alice Sue attended school in Avoyelles Parish , graduating from Bunkie Colored School in 1952 She furthered her education at Grambling State University with a B. S. completion Elementary Education. She graduated and begin serving in Avoyelles Parish ,as an educator for many years. In 1979 she received an M.S. degree in the Dept. of Education from Southern University of Baton Rouge, La. Alice Sue continued to serve within the Avoyelles Parish School Board as a teacher while teaching many students at Bethune High (Marksville, La.) , Hessmer High (Hessmer, La), and Bunkie Elementary until she retired in 1994. Acknowledging the need for children needs in education she was convinced to return into the Avoyelles Parish School system until 2011 . Alice Sue had a love for educating, but she also serviced her community in other helpful capacities. She occasionally worked at Progressive Funeral Home along with her husband, Asst. Director, member of the Sisterhood of Avoyelles Parish, an Auxiliary Officer for Avoyelles Parish Sheriff Office, and a member of Magnolia State Peace Officers Association.
A TIME TO LOVE: She entered into love and holy matrimony with the late Elijah Jacob on February 6, 1959. To this union, she birthed two daughters.
A TIME TO WEEP: Sis. Jacob's parents, Frank and Sufronia F. Bacon, sister(s)- Lula Wilkinson, Eddie Pearl Jones, Verdie Jones, Margaret Sanders; and Jean Esther Bacon brother's- Thomas, Clyde, Frank, Jr., Allyn, Mirtell, and Samuel. Also her great- grandson- Marcus Deal, Jr.
A TIME TO DIE: Alice Sue Bacon - Jacob bravely turned in her boarding pass on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, quietly at home in Bunkie, La.
A TIME TO MOURN: Left to cherish her memories are her 2 daughters- Evangelist Cynthia Enette (Raymond); Patsy Hall (James); Grandchildren-a loving Grandson that she raised from an early age- Pertrell Lucas, Terrance, Brandon, Jeremy, Calvin III, Gwendolyn, Dominique, Alisha, Gabrielle ; 14 great grandchildren; one God-child- Kevin Wiley; one sister in law- Jessie Mae Jacob. She also acknowledge a neice-sister-Vern Evelyn Bacon and a host of loving neices, nephews , cousins, and friends.
