Obituary of Willie Rosenthal McGinnis
Willie Rosenthal McGinnis Sr, was born on September 30, 1941 to the parents of Oleotha and Ernest “Jack” McGinnis. At an early age he professed his faith in Christ and was baptized at the Lord Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Boyce, Louisiana. Willie (Bilbo) attended elementary and middle school Laurel Hill Baptist Church.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Annette Millner.
Bro. Willie was a faithful member of Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Clarence Frazier. Mr. Willie was the loving and caring father of five children. Juanita McGinnis (Greg), Keith Cockerham (Connie, Beverly Smith (Charles), Keely McGinnins and Willie Jr. (Lanetra).
Throughout Willie McGinnis Sr years, he worked at Flynn Manufacturing as a welder for 22 years.
Bro Willie quitly departed this life on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at CHRISTUS ST. Frances Cabrini Hospital. He was preceded in death by both of his parents Oleotha and Jack McGinnis. His brother Ernest McGinnis Sr and sister Simmie Zeigler (Johnnie).
He leaves to cherish beautiful and loving memories Keith, Juanita, Beverly, Keely and Willie Jr. Siblings Vernita Wooden and Dorothy Nelson both of Houston, Texas and Mercede Harley of Alexandria, LA. Ten(10) grandchildren Broderick (Ashley) McGinnis, Cedric (Sharon) McGinnis, Gregory (Ebony) McGinnis, Kimberly McGinnis, Anshinque Young, Quarderrick “Pooh” McGinnis, Charquita Smith, Asia Dorsey, Eriel Dorsey and Christian McGinnis. Fourteen(14) loving great-grandchildren. A very special friend Elnora Jackson, Jake Smith Jr., J.W. Clifton, Ernest McGinnis Jr., and Rev. Charles R. Smith Sr. AKA “Bubba”.
Mr. Willie “Bo” McGinnis Sr. will be forever remembered by his loving family and friends.
