Obituary of Mrs. Martha Turner
OBITUARY
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1
Sister Martha Turner was born October 2, 1937, to the late Henry & Leaster Harrell Turner in Simmesport, La. She departed this life to join her Heavenly Father on August 7, 2019 at her son’s home in Lake Charles, La.
Sister Martha accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt Calvary B. C. by the late Rev. J.B. Bannister. She remained true in her service to the Lord by serving as choir director under the late Rev. Dr. Alvin Courtney Sr. & and continued under Dr. Leslie Draper III, at the New. Mt. Calvary B. C. presently the Tree of Calvary B.C. Pastors
Leslie & Shelia Draper. She was in the choir ministry, culinary ministry, deaconess ministry and later she became the Mother of the Church.
She was employed by the Joan of Arc Canning Factory, Avoyelles
Pecan Factory and later worked for the Avoyelles Parish School Board as a Food Service Technician, from which she retired, after 24 years.
Sister Martha was a joy to all she met and was greatly loved by all who knew her. She loved to sing, cook and loved going to church.
Those left to cherish her loving memories are: 4 sons: Lee Earl Turner (Marie), & Leanda P. Turner (Melissa) of Lake Charles, La., Kevin R. Turner (Shirley), of Alexandria, La., Marvin J. Turner (Rose) of Melville, La. 3 daughters: Lois M. Collins (Samuel) of Lake Charles, La., Cecilia B. Dancy (Danny), & Barbara L. McGhee (Benard) of Simmesport, La.
3 brothers: Silton Turner Sr. (Doris) of Simmesport, La., Walter Turner (Ollie), and Henry Turner Jr.(Shirley) of Lake Charles, La. 3 sisters: Myrtle Dupar of Simmesport, La., Annie Mae Sallier of Marksville, La. and Mae Bertha Loyd (Willie) of Lake Charles, La., 1 aunt: Martha Lee of Simmesport, La. 25 Grandchilldren, 39 Great-Grandchildren & 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. 3 God-children: April Sallier, Culeasa McGhee, & George Guice. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Henry & Leaster Turner,
brother; Isaac Turner, Grandchildren; Lakeisha Aimes, Kristy Turner, Dawin Jr., Nolan & Jaxon Turner, God-child Silton Turner Jr, 3 Uncles & 3 Aunts.
