Obituary

Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Veal White was born to Cleaven Veal , Sr. and Erma Lee Wells Veal on November 27, 1939 in Chambers, Louisiana. She departed this earthly life on Monday, August 5th, 2019, from her home.

 

At the age of six, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at the Second Union Baptist Church in the bayou by the late Rev. G.C. Jacob. She became a member of the Oakland Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R. Shorter. A devoted servant of the Lord until her passing, she rendered services as a member of the Oakland Missionary Baptist Church in various ministries; including that of an Assistant Sunday School Teacher of the Intermediate and Senior Department, Clerk of the Trustee Board, an Leader of the Usher Board, Vice President of Senior Mission Department, and Church Custodian.

 

Liz was a loving and devoted mother, outgoing, and friendly to all she came into contact with. She served as a care giver to many. She was employed at Louisiana State University of Alexandria, La until being called to Pinecrest State School in Pineville, La for over twenty-one years until retiring as a Supervisor upon becoming disabled. Thereafter, she continued to care for others.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleaven Veal Sr. and Erma Lee Wells Veal; Her maternal grandmother, Fannie Snowden and paternal grandmother, Anne Burkes and Grandfather, Wash Veal; Her brothers, Cleaven Veal Jr., Willie Lanston Veal, Loyd E. Veal Sr., Alvin Gene Veal, Huey Lee Veal, and Johnny Ray Veal Sr.

 She leaves to cherish fond memories, her sister, Lula B. Williams of Alexandria, La., her sister-in-law, Earl Brown Veal, her daughters, Carolyn Ann (Gilbert) Johnson of Columbus, Ga., Mignon Michelle White of Suwanee, Ga., Charlene White-Thompson (Remoh) of Columbus, Ga., and Charlette White of Alexandria, Louisiana; Grandchildren – Tameika, Gilbert Jr., and Ebben Johnson of Columbus, Ga., Zaya and Nia Wright of Alexandria, La., and Jordan Thompson of Columbus, Ga. And a host of nieces, nephews., relatives, and friends.
