 A TIME TO BE BORN

Johnnie “John” Lee Whitehead was born in Jonesville, Louisiana on October 03, 1944 to the union of William Whitehead and Rosie Lee Whitehead. He was fourth of nine siblings. 

 A TIME TO PLANT

He was baptized at an early age by the late Reverend F. Green at Saint Peter Baptist Church, Jonesville, Louisiana.

In his early years, he attended school in Catahoula Parish and then graduated from Peabody High School in Rapides Parish. 

He joined and served in the United States Air Force. During his time in military, his assignment was a tour duty in the Vietnam War.

When he returned home, he worked for the City of Alexandria, LA., for a time. He later moved to Houston, Texas. He worked and retired from the City of Houston after working as a manager for over thirty years.

 TIME TO LOVE

In 1971, Johnnie Lee Whitehead married Paula Francis Davis. Together they raised five children: Keith, Mark, Darryl, Marie and Yolanda “Tracy”. For forty-eight years his family grew. He lived well and was loved dearly by all, especially his nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A TIME TO DIE

He departed his life on Wednesday July 31, 2019 surrounded by love and peacefulness. He preceded in death by his father, William Whitehead, one brother, Roosevelt Whitehead,  Virginia N. Whitehead-Hubbard,      Mother-In–Law; Mary Francis Davis, one sister, Virginia N. Whitehead-Hubbard, Aunt Dorothy Mae Jackson, sister-in-law Lula T. Whitehead.,  and one nephew Antony Whitehead.

 A TIME TO MOURN

John leaves to hold close and lovingly the journey of his well lived life: his Mother, Rosie Lee Whitehead and Wife, Paula Francis Whitehead; Three sons:  Keith, Mark, and Darryl (Helen); Two daughters: Marie and            Yolanda (Tracy) all of Houston, Texas. Nine - Grand Children: Lamont, Yvonne, Jessica, Hannah, Leah (James), Rebecca, Seynah, Fifa and Leon, Jr (LJ); and Nine Great children: Lamont, Latae, Oriun (O), Josiah, Quinlan (Q), Hayden, Legaci, Elani, and James (Flash). One brother: Jimmy Ray Whitehead of Shreveport, LA. Five Sisters: Mary Alice Whitehead, Louise Whitehead–Gantt, Carolyn Faye Whitehead-Benson of                 Alexandria, LA and Dorothy Lee Whitehead of Anderson, South Carolina and Ruby Lee Whitehead-Simpson, Atlanta, GA.  One aunt: Margaret Marie Hardwell of Jena, Louisiana as well as host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friend.
