Ms. Rebecca White

Obituary of Ms. Rebecca White

“I waited patiently upon the Lord, I have finished the race and I have remained faithful.  Who can tell me, how great is our God.”

Rebecca Allen White, the youngest daughter of Laura Nash Allen and Tillman Allen, departed this earthly life on Sunday, June 30, 2019.  At an early age, she was baptized and confessed her love for Christ. She served as one of the financial secretaries at Trinity United Baptist Church until moving to Lafayette, Louisiana, to enjoy her daughter and grandchildren. She loved her family and always enjoyed preparing her favorite dish of mustard greens, fried chicken, neck bones and cornbread for her nieces and nephews.

Rebecca was a member of the 1970 graduating class of Mary E. Graham High School. She furthered her education by attending Northwestern State University of Natchitoches, Louisiana. She met and married Marvin Below, and to their union a daughter was born.

Rebecca retired in December 2018 as a sales associate from Dillard’s Clothing Store with seventeen years of service. She met so many wonderful people and pledged that if she could help somebody as she passed along, her living would not be in vain.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward White; daughter, Laura White; siblings, Jerry Allen, Joseph Allen, Emma Kimble, Samaster Allen, Bobby W. Allen, and Elizabeth Langes.  She dearly loved all of them.

Rebecca is survived by a loving and caring daughter, Tiffany Below-Newton; three beautiful grandchildren and her heartbeats, Nevaeh, Alyssa, and Michael Newton Jr.; a loving stepdaughter, Charlene Sewell; four siblings, Gladys D. Morris, Willie Allen (Dorothy), George Allen and Grover Fren Allen (Glenda Marie); and three sisters-in-law, Lucinda Allen, Gwendolyn Allen and Nora B. Coutee. She was loved dearly by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and employees of Dillard’s Clothing Stores of Alexandria and Lafayette, Louisiana.
