Obituary of Mr. David Lee Snowden
David Lee Snowden was born January 17, 1961 in Port Arthur Texas to Velma Brown and
Auguster Snowden. He is a child of God a son; father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and Marine. He is
the funniest person in my family yall know he should have been a comedian. He loved Anime, Cartoons,
Action Movies and remote control cars and yes, Ole Dave was a big kid at heart. He was kind, stubborn,
and he could be mean when he wanted to. He is a combination of many things all made of God. He had
his own relationship with God and could quote you the bible front to back.
As I write this, I want you to know, how much my uncle loved his family and how much we loved him.
He loved his friends. He love is Fiancée’ Deidre Blue. If he didn’t like you, he let you know. One of his
favorite games was Dominoes and he talked so much trash when he played Dominos with you that you
had to beat him to shut him up. I can hear him now “ Ole Dave aggressive on this Domino table”, even
after you beat him, he would still be talking, and he would guaranteed you wouldn’t beat him again. His
spirit was infectious, when we laugh, we laugh until we have tears. He found humor in everything. When
he was able to walk, after he had a seizure, he called to tell his Monks (me) that he was doing the shuffle
down the hallway! LOL.
My uncle loves his family. He loved his mother and his sister like no other. His bond with his brothers was
so strong. As you read this, fill your heart with the happiest memories, for my uncle is in the happiest
place he can be.
On May 30, 2019, my uncle took his eternal rest. He fought his fight and now we have to move on
through life with our best memories of our time together. Grief comes in stages. Its ok to cry, it is ok to
be sad, but don’t cry to long and don’t be sad too long. My uncle is using many expletives right now
because we are grieving. He does not like sadness. He prefers to have good energy. He is with our Father
and he is ok. We too, will be ok. We will get there. The road will bend, curve, and be different for all of us
who love him. In the immortal words of Ole Dave “its a lot of thangs but sadness ain’t one of 'em, we
finna celebrate!"
His brother Roy Snowden and his father Auguster Snowden and Grandmother Mary Larry brown
preceded him in death.
He left his mother Velma, Sister Cathy, Brothers Jerl, Augusta and Anthony, Nieces Tasha, Angelica, Cobie,
Nephews, Corey, Jerl, and several others, Sons Aresenio, Demerius, Daviante and Dejuan as well as close
friends to cherish the very best memories of him.
