Obituary of Mrs. Shirley Butler

Mrs. Shirley Marie Butler was born January 15, 1946, in Poland, Louisiana, to the late Lula Mae and Earl Dotson Sr. who preceded her in death. She was the fourth oldest of fifteen siblings. Five of her siblings preceded her in death, JW Dotson, Earl Dotson Sr., Jimmie Dotson, Donald Dotson, Johnnie Dotson and Joe Dotson.

She attended and graduated from Peabody High School. She worked and lived in Alexandria, Louisiana, for many years until her health failed her. She was known to many as “Sister.”

Shirley was a member of Daughter Zion Baptist Church until she relocated to Dallas, Texas, to be with her children.

Shirley quietly departed this life Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her daughter, Cassandra Denise West; and son, Anthony Keith Butler (Rochelle) of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Debra Dotson, Patricia Sidney (Greg) of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Pamela Dotson of Dallas, Texas; five brothers, Wilson Dotson (Katherine), Herbert Dotson, Kenneth Dotson, Sylvester Dotson (Valerie), and Michael Dotson (Bridgett) of Alexandria, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Antwuan Adams of Houston, Texas, Derius West, and Dawanne West of Dallas, Texas; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
