Obituary of Mr. Harold T. Jackson

Bro. Harold T. Jackson was born on December 14, 1953, to the union of William Jackson, Sr., and Hazel Lucius Kemper Jackson in Pineville, Louisiana. He was the fifth of nine siblings, three of which preceded him in death: Bennie Ruth Beraud, William Jackson, Jr., and Rodney Jackson.

 

Harold was baptized at Greater St. Lawrence Baptist Church by the late Rev. Dave Smith, who then pastored that church. He joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 1983 and served as the President of the Young Adult Choir and Senior Choir for many years. At the same time, he was Director of the United Educational Missionary Baptist Association (UEMBA) Choir and was State Coordinator for the Louisiana Home & Foreign Mission Baptist Convention.

 

Harold attended Peabody High School and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He was employed first by Proctor & Gamble and the City of Alexandria. Thereafter, he was employed by the Rapides Parish School Board, where he served for 35 years before retiring.

 

He leaves to mourn, his sons, Michael Edison (Brenda) of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Kelvin Sanders (Verentha) and Demetrius Cosey, both of Alexandria, Louisiana; one Godchild, Tonya Gilmore Brown (Marshall); his brothers, Wayne Jackson and Donald Ray Jackson; his sisters, Vera Alexander, Donna Faye Hughes and Angela Harper (Ronnie); and 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 35 nieces and nephews.
