Obituary of Mrs. Emma L. King
On April 27, 2019, a devoted angel, Sis. Emma Lee Coleman King, completed her earthly journey. She gained her wings and moved peacefully into her heavenly home. Sister King was born on January 9, 1928, to Louvenia and Benjamin Coleman, Sr., in Lismore, Louisiana.
Emma was baptized at an early age. Upon moving to Alexandria, she became a member of New Pilgrim Baptist Church. Later, she joined Pilgrim Missionary Baptist and became a Deaconess of the church until she was called home. She was also an Eastern Star Sister at the Cornucopia Lodge in Jonesville, Louisiana.
Emma was a gentle soul who was known for her seamstress and cooking abilities, but she could be stern when needed. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bro. Dennis King, Jr.; and her son, Richard King; as well as four of her brothers.
To cherish her memories, she leaves two sisters, Reather King (Clifford) and Judy Swift; one brother, Ben Coleman; four daughters, Roslyn Wilson (John), Lola K. Redic, Roxie M. King, and Sondra K. Wilson (Woodrow). She also leaves ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends, and two grandpups, Lady and Layla.
