Obituary of Mrs. Alice Faye Young

And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

Ecclesiastes 12:7

Alice Faye Young was the only daughter born to the late Irma Lee Smith and Henry Scott on July 4, 1941.

She peacefully departed this life for her heavenly home on April 23, 2019.

Alice Faye was a loving and devoted mother of five, grandmother of six, and great grandmother of nine children. She enjoyed an active role in the lives of her family and friends. She is known for her strength, independence, friendly smile, and flair for fashion. Alice Faye was someone you could count on. She embodied the compassion of Christ as she cared for and assisted others. Her life even during her illness was one of hope and determination.

She accepted Christ as a young mother and was baptized by the Reverend Huey P. Lawson of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.  Greater Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church was her church home. Alice's favorite biblical verse was Psalm 23. She enjoyed cooking, backyard barbeques, spending time with her loved ones and decorating herself and home for every holiday. Her favorite past time was sitting on her front porch and speaking to everyone. Alice retired from the Rapides Parish School Board after serving 28 years at South Alexandria Elementary School/ Sixth Grade Center. Nothing pleased her more than feeding others!

She leaves to cherish her memory, Brother, Vernon (Marietta) Smith of Baton Rouge, LA; Children, Donald Scott, Andre Young, and Shawn Young all of Alexandria, LA, Kimberly Young Lee of New Orleans, LA; Grandchildren, LaTosha (Deldric) Johnson of Dallas, TX, Danielle Lee of New Orleans, LA, Ashley Lee of Los Angeles, CA, Felecia (Kenneth) Smith-Fields of Alexandria, LA, Lakesha Young and Jamie Voise both of Pineville, LA. She was preceded in death by her Grandmother, Luicettia Smith, Uncle Edward Smith and Aunt Lanie Reed of Alexandria, LA. Her Mother and Stepfather, Irma Lee Smith and Eddie Smith of Alexandria, LA, Brothers Claude (Luella) Coty of Omaha, NE and Larry Smith of Alexandria, LA , Son, Kevin Lynn Young of Alexandria, LA and Granddaughter, Michelle Lauren Lee of New Orleans, LA.

Alice leaves a legacy of wonderful memories with extended family and friends.
