Obituary of Edna "Ms. B" Rosenthal Howard

 

Edna B. Rosenthal Howard departed her earthly life peacefully on the evening of February 27, 2019 at her home in Alexandria, Louisiana, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 21, 1930 to Rev. Taylor & Lelia Rosenthal in Boyce, Louisiana. She was the last of nine children to be born to her parents.

 

In July 1940, she was baptized by her father at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Boyce, Louisiana. Upon graduating in May 1950 from Wallace High School in Orange, Texas, she later married Jessie Howard in Alexandria, Louisiana, and moved to Houston, Texas.

 

She devoted her life to raising her three children and helping others. She furthered her education by completing nursing school in Houston, Texas and later returned to Louisiana where she served as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years until she retired in 1992. She was a faithful member of New Kingdom Missionary Baptist Church in Alexandria, Louisiana where she served as President of the Usher Board and Pastor’s Aide Club for many years until she joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church to be with her family.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Catherine (Williams), Frankie (Carheel), Violet (Williams), Dorothy (Montgomery), and Audrey (Pickens); four brothers, Orteal, Taylor, Willie, and O’Neal (Sam).

 

She leaves to cherish her sweet and wonderful memory three children, Loretta Adams, Jessie Charles (Joann) Howard, Karen (Myron Sr.) Lawson; three grandchildren, Latonya (Alfred) Kensie, Jason Howard, and Myron Lawson, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Amaya Kensie and Jaycie Howard; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
